Join us to guide the future of Redwood Life!
The City is leading a comprehensive planning effort and environmental review to assess the impacts and benefits of a proposed redevelopment of the Redwood Life campus. Our aim is to ensure that residents, businesses, and decision makers understand the trade-offs associated with different development options so they can meaningfully weigh in on how the area should evolve to best meet the desired outcomes of the Redwood Shores and greater Redwood City community.
City Council Meeting on April 14, 2025
Thank you to those who attended the joint City Council and Planning Commission meeting on March 4th and recent Redwood Life project meetings and webinars. We appreciate your participation, public comments, and continued engagement in the process. The City has scheduled a second City Council meeting on the Redwood Life project alternative at 6pm on Monday, April 14th, with the Redwood Life Precise Plan agendized on the consent calendar. You may submit written comments from now until 5:00 p.m. on April 14th by sending them to publiccomment@redwoodcity.org. You may also speak in person at the meeting under the Public Comment on the Consent Calendar section of the agenda.
If City Council provides direction on a project alternative, the Notice of Preparation (NOP), a first step in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) process, will be prepared and released. An EIR scoping meeting will follow and is likely to occur in the summer. The EIR scoping meeting will allow public agencies and members of the public to provide feedback on the scope of environmental issues to analyze in the EIR. The City-led consultant team will then begin detailed environmental and community benefits analysis, and commence preparation of the Precise Plan.
Update to the City Council and Planning Commission
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the City held an in-person special joint study session with the City Council and Planning Commission on the Redwood Life Precise Plan and EIR in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City and was open to the public. The agenda included the following:
A summary of City-led community outreach efforts and community input received to date
Overview of the results of the technical sensitivity analyses and other studies completed to date
Soliciting feedback from individual members of the Planning Commission and City Council regarding an alternative to be studied in the EIR alongside the originally proposed Longfellow development project
Thank you for joining us at the in person Community Workshop on February 12th
On February 12, 2025, as part of the Redwood Life Precise Plan and EIR process, the City hosted an in-person community workshop focused on a review of potential alternatives to the proposed Longfellow development project. These alternatives consider building design and site plan changes, as well as potential park, open space, and amenities configurations. The primary purpose of the workshop was to share these alternatives, explain how they seek to address community input, and receive feedback from the public.
